Fujia 2012-2013 Seed Program

The programme is a two-week intensive summer school for 60 children in Hubei. 10 student teachers will deliver interactive English and Science classes to the kids. Learners will make use of what they have learnt in the classes to create a performance at the end of the programme.

Science Inspiration Project for Secondary School Students

Fifteen undergraduate students from Science Faculty will visit 3-5  secondary schools in districts of Hong Kong and Macau with more low-income families. They will design and deliver workshops and hand-on experiments of the Science-related issues in daily life to around 150 under-privileged students. The project aims to make science learning more interesting and subsequently easier for them to understand.

Episode 1: Morningside in Nepal – Understanding through Communication Promoting Personal Development through Social and Civic Engagement

A group of students from Morningside College

Project Location: Nepal

These students will conduct a need assessment project in Nepal through the finalizing work for two community buildings as well as intense interaction, including interviews and focus groups, to understand the needs of the specific community. They adopt a bottom-up approach to discuss the use of these two buildings with the villagers and build up a need-based proposal to them. At the next stage, they will return to the community to conduct services that suit the villagers’ needs in order to improve their living standard.

Pass-it-on Service Learning Programme: “Pass the Toys to Northern Myanmar” (Press release)

Twelve students of the UC College will be bringing new/used toys to an orphanage and a school in Northern Myanmar in order to build for them two toy libraries. Community Service Trip to Lian Nan

This joint university association will bring 10 CU students to Myanmar and the Thai-Burma Border for 2 months to conduct three of their own regular projects: 1) playground construction and health education; 2) journalism training; and 3) rule of law education for Myanmar people and Burmese refugees. The CU students will develop bottom-up service skills by prolonged and in-depth engagement with the Myanmar community, and to have better understanding of the social issues faced by the Myanmar people.
