In year 2012-13, ICARE Programme supports 16 social service projects, in which thousands of clients will be benefited. Six of the local service projects are sponsored by Hang Seng Bank (CUHK - Hang Seng I‧CARE Local Service Project Scheme) and provide more opportunities for students to participate and serve the community.

CLOVER (Press release)

Re-run in its 4th year, CLOVER will focus on raising green awareness this year. It is planned to recruit 80 CUHK students and divided them into groups, each of which will be comprised of both local and non-local students. Each group of students will be assigned to serve a specific target group: the developmentally disabled, the elderly, South Asian children or newly-arrived children.

Comprehensive trainings on both volunteering and green awareness will be provided. Students will be encouraged to practise the themes and skills learned from trainings in social services. They will arrange innovative green activities for the service targets, such as making handicraft with reused materials, cooking organic food and domestic planting.

Uni-caring Down Syndrome

International Service Trip in India "The angel of Kolkata" (Photo)

A total of 25 students will have voluntary work at Missionaries of Charity and serve the children in Thakurpukur Cancer Hospital in Kolkata, India. CUHK students will work closely with volunteers from Rotaract Club in Kolkata. This also provides opportunities for participants to engage in cultural exchange activities with local volunteers.

Ethnic Minority Health Project 2013 ( Video)

Over 24 students will be recruited to participate on‐site health needs assessment. A campaign delivering community‐based health education on disaster preparedness will be provided in Sichuan province. The team will carry out evaluation 9 months after the campaign in order to examine its effectiveness.

We Serve We Care Vietnam Service Trip 2013 (Photo)

A trip to Hanoi, Vietnam is organized incoming Summer holiday. 25 students (mainly Year 1-2) from the Medicine Faculty will undergo 2 weeks of social-medial services. Students will visit a number of factories wherein victims of Agent Orange work. Agent Orange was used as weapon during the Vietnam War and has caused inter-generational bodily defects among the Vietnamese. Students will also provide basic health checks and health education to Vietnamese children and elderly.

The Leftovark Party

It is a one-day event organised by The Leftovers, CUHK Pinpoint and CUSU. The leftovers was be collected as ingredients from various places, like supermarkets, markets and restaurants. Chefs turn the leftovers into attractive dishes and distribute to the participants. Guests from different organizations share their view on food waste and workskops of fruit jam production are included to give participants a thorough understanding on food waste.
